Very useful deck box -- but too small for big patio cushions

We purchased the Suncast DB5000 Deck Box over a year ago. I'm pleased to report that it has held up to the Houston heat humidity and rain extremely well. This is a great box for storing all of those "miscellaneous things" that tend to clutter one's patio. Only one disappointment: we recently purchased patio furniture and this box is not big enough to hold any of the cushions. So if you are thinking about buying this for patio cushions be sure to measure your cushions FIRST and compare it against this box's inner dimensions. It is amazing what fits inside this container but not perfect.

I bought this to store all of my patio furniture cushions.



I was able to fit the following:

* 4 chair seat bottoms

* 1 lower 2-seater bench cushion

* 1 thick 2-seater back bench cushion

* 2 large swivel chair bottom cushions

* 2 thick swivel chair back cushions



These cushions max out every inch of the space inside but it is exactly'

what I wanted.



The only complaint I have is the cheesy plastic loops that "help" keep the lid open.

This was a very cheap solution. I own other containers like this that actually have

a gas stay inside. I would have paid a few dollars more to have a better device like that.

Sadly no one else makes a container this big. So this is kind of your only choice out there.



Another note if you are going to put this beside a wall it will have to sit several inches

away from the wall to allow the lid to open all of the way. This item is so huge it is kind of a bummer

that the design forces you to have it out so far from the wall. My house is made of stucco so repeated

banging into the wall creates bald spots on the stucco this is a problem for us.



It was super easy to put together. I was done in just a few minutes. Don't worry about all of those complaints.



If you need a lot of storage you can't do better than this one. Size is it's strength.

Just remember you are not paying for something made of bricks it is inexpensive and made of plastic.

Useful Storage

My husband said this wasn't hard to put together. He's pretty handy. It's large enough to hold our shorter garden tools and to hold the fertilizers garden gloves plant stakes and all that gear adjacent to the vegetable garden. It's not the most scenic box but it won't need oiling like a teak box or painting. We've had a lot of rain lately and the box has kept everything nice and dry.

At first we had a problem where the lid didn't snap shut properly and we thought it was warped. While waiting for a replacement lid we moved the box and that solved the problem. Apparently it is important for the box to be level. The instructions didn't point that out but that makes the difference in getting the lid to fit snugly. So it is OK now but be aware that you may have to shift it around to get everything fitting right if your site isn't level. We have ours on a gravel area by the deck.

There's a narrow shelf of particle board. Don't put much on it or it will sag. More detail ...

I ordered three boxes of Lumberloc last Friday I haven't had a chance to use them but I wanted to say that dealing with Huckabay Holdings was great. When I sent in the order I inadvertantly sent the wrong shipping address as soon as I realized it I contacted the seller by email then Saturday by phone. Good attractive plastic planter.

The planters are actually better quality than I expected. You can plant directly in them or just set pots in them as there are drainage plugs you can take out. It has feet that raise the base off of the ground for good drainage. I bought the terra cotta color. Looks pretty close to a clay pot but much easier to move around when full of soil. Our patio's neater with a place to put the toys...

We bought the Deck Box specifically to use as an outdoor toy box for our children. As such it is everything we wanted. The plastic seems strong enough to last awhile and yet it's light enough to move around. The lid isn't too heavy and won't hurt little fingers too badly if they're caught. Assembly gets highest marks my 6 year old and I had it done in under 5 minutes. Pieces are clearly marked and it literally snaps together. Don't believe the poor design and construction reviews

The construction is a bit unorthodox as there are no screws that hold it together but once it is together I was able to pick it up and move it without any issues. When putting on the side pieces I noticed that there are two pins that need to go into holes of the front and back panels. You can force the box together without making sure the pins go into the holes which would probably make for a sloppy fit. I imagine that is what happened with the people who's box fell apart.



Overall this is a great box and they have accessories for it also. I am using it to hold hot tub and grill supplies.More detail ...

It does EXACTLY what its meant to do

I like this box. It was easy to assemble within a few minutes. There are optional accessories to divide the inside but none are included with this box. The assembled box is large enough to fit standard-sized garden tools such as rakes hoes etc.



It has been in my back yard under my second-story porch for the two months now. I put all my lawn-care equipment (sprayers insecticides tools etc.) in it. None of them has gotten wet despite a few very heavy downpours. There is a place on the handle to apply a lock if you so choose.



It is not "airtight" so I imagined insects might make their way inside but so far that hasn't happened. Maybe because I don't keep any food in it or maybe the platic smell is a repellant.



It is definitely sturdy enough to sit on.



You can't push this box flush with a wall because it needs about three inches of clearance behind it to allow for opening it without scrating the rear of the top.



All in all a good purchase. Amazon's price is also perfect. I compared to my local Lowes and Amazon's price is better - and with free shipping and no tax. Can't beat that!More detail ...
